Still Vacancies For Guest Columnists On State of the Game

April 11th, 2006 by Alan Hylands

We’ve had punters stake their claim for Manchester United, Liverpool and Leeds United so there are plenty of clubs still waiting for a guest columnist and we want it to be you, yes you, sitting there reading this post and thinking maybe you aren’t a good enough writer or don’t know enough fancy words.

We really don’t care.

We want passion, an insight into your club and it’s issues and we want it straight from the horse’s mouth, so to speak. Football fans are becoming the forgotten men and women of European football and at State of the Game we’re desperate to reverse that trend.

If you think your chairman is a c*nt, your manager is a t*at or your star striker couldn’t hit a cow’s a*se with a banjo, get in touch with us. We might have to temper your language a bit but we won’t restrict your passion for your club and the game.

That’s a promise.

I’m a regular home match go’er to Anfield, but don’t get to many away games, due to not being a season ticket holder.

I wouldn’t mind having a go at the Liverpool Columnist, but my English is a not brilliant, due to being brought up in Yorkshire!!

  2. Alan Hylands Says:

I said originally it was first come, first served and we had a reader express interest in the Liverpool column last night by e-mail. If you don’t mind I’ll stick you down as first reserve though Mark and I’ll be in touch in a couple of days to keep you up to date.

    Anybody else?

  3. Barry Monaghan Says:

You probably have a Leeds reporter already; however, if you need someone to represent the “mighty whites” I’m your man! ( even on a reserve basis)

I travel over to ER approx 4 times a season from Ireland and read any publication/watch any TV station that their name is mentioned in/on.

Whether the Phoenix can rise from the flames in the play offs remains to be seen; no matter what, I’ll be there through thick and thin!

  4. Emmett Says:

    Hello,

If possible i’d like to be put second in line. I’m a freelance writer in America but have written about football professionally in the past. I’ll be at and can also write about the World Cup if you need anything posted from Germany.

  5. Alan Hylands Says:

Thanks Barry, I’ve got a Leeds fan on board after yesterday’s request for guest columnists but I’ll put you down as first reserve like Mark above and if the position needs filled again you are first on the list.

Thanks a lot for putting yourself forward.

If either Mark or Barry want to write any general football articles on a regular or occasional basis then please drop us a line as well.

We want all interested fans to get writing if possible and get themselves published on State of the Game.

  6. Alan Hylands Says:

Ok, I’m taking personal responses to e-mail now as we’ve had a few interested parties so please put your regular e-mail address in when commenting and I’ll get back to you as soon as possible.

We still have room for lots more of you, we’ve got Leeds, Liverpool and Manchester United covered but that leaves hundreds of other clubs all over Europe and beyond. Don’t be shy now…
