Handbags and Gladrags For Pardew and Wenger

November 6th, 2006 by Alan Hylands

Let’s put this whole episode into context shall we? West Ham start the season with a couple of wonder boys on the books and proceed to have the kind of start every player, manager, chairman and fan all over world dreads. Being perfectly honest they’ve been abysmal and Alan Pardew knows just how close he is to the sack especially with a big money takeover of the club looming and the spectre of Svennis strolling past and eyeing up the comfiness of the chair in the Upton Park manager’s office. Let’s just say that it hasn’t been the easiest of seasons for Mr. Pardew.

On the other bench you have the increasinlgy stressed out and tetchy “Slugger” Wenger who now has had a scrap with each of the top managers in the country and after feeling mightily aggrieved at Pardew’s cheek for daring to celebrate his side’s last minute goal with some enthusiasm not only physically attacked him and tried to push the fourth offical away for another go, he acted like the spoilt child he and his players are by refusing to shake Pardew’s hand. Takes a big man to do that.

At least Elton John who was sitting on the Arsenal bench beside “Tyson” Wenger had the decency to shake the opposing manager’s hand, must be the way he was raised.

Elton John

I really don’t know what Wenger sees when he looks at himself in the mirror. As if it wasn’t ridiculous enough to see him square up to Alex Ferguson and even more suicidally to Martin Jol (lucky he’s the chilled up Dutch type) I really think Pardew would have put him on his boney arse if he’s pushed any further. The phrase “well built” isn’t one you’ll ever hear attributed to Arsene Wenger although after yesterday’s hysterics and his skluking out of Upton Park without giving an interview to the press maybe the phrases we should be firing at him would “under pressure”, “stressed out”, “unsporting” and “completely ridiculous”.

Time to grow up Arsene, you’re about as badass as Michael Jackson.
