Moaning Gets You Everywhere In Life!

November 8th, 2006 by Cathy Thompson

This weekend went off as a Spurs supporters dream. First Arsenal suffered a defeat at West Ham with Mr Wenger showing that he really is one of the most unsporting men in the Premiership today and then to top it all Spurs beat Chelsea at home taking all three points convincingly.

However Chelsea cannot just take a defeat on the chin, someone or something has to have cheated them of an ultimate victory, be it the pitch, be it the referee or shock horror the opposing teams tactics. Chelsea as a team find it impossible to admit a defeat and this is a fact I can usually laugh off after a few days of thinking come on guys take a good look at yourselves and reralise that sometimes you can’t be the team to walk away with the plaudits. However Chelsea seem to be convinced that they are akin to the Harlem Globetrotters and that no team should dare to come close to their standards meaning that when they lose it always hs to be blamed on an outside factor.

On Sunday it wasn’t that Tottenham played well as a team and took the chances when it mattered and defended well through the efforts of Ledley King and Michael Dawson. No it had to be the referee and the “blatant” “gaping” mistakes that he made. Now I watched the match and could not find that much fault with Graham Poll. Chelsea especially through Ashley “I’m a chav” Cole are blaming the defeat upon the decisions Poll made but its all what ifs and conjecture!

How can Chelsea get away with this type of behaviour time after time? Surely its obvious to see that they are putting immense pressure on the referees that officiate their games to such a degree that Martin O’Neill has had to come out this week and state that he hopes the referee in their match this week won’t be influenced. Chelsea are out of control as a club and I feel the FA need to stand strong and punish them fairly and equally for any breach of the rules.

Graham Poll has denied he said that he was teaching them a lesson and has invited anyone who wishes to question him to listen to the match recording which was taken through the microphone he was wearing. Now that would be interesting listening! If it can be proven that this was not said then Ashley Cole, Frank Lampard and Chelsea should be heavily punished.

Are they just mightly pissed off and embarassed at the loss or is this a case of the lady doth protest to much trying to stem the attention away from the exit of their infalliable skipper?
