Will They Never Learn? Listen up Ronaldinho and Kaka!

September 25th, 2007 by Cathy Thompson

Imagine my despair as I find that two of the most well respected and talented footballers currently plying their fabulous craft in Europe are linked with a high profile move to Stamford Bridge. When oh when are modern day footballers going to finally wise up and realise that a move to a club that are simply going nowhere could spell the end to their otherwise promising and successful career.

Chelsea to put it mildly are a club without class. The little respect that was earned by a hard working and loyal management has now departed with the Special One and Chelsea are scrambling to maintain the illusion that they are now world beaters on a par with the likes of Barcelona and AC Milan.

Chelsea are on a downward spiral helped no end by the continual interference of Mr Abramovich who is playing the longest game of Fantasy Football ever known. Abramovich’s lastest gamble of forcing Mourinho out of the club has done nothing except speed the inevitable decline of a club that have been recently forged on large spending sprees. However, Mr Abramovich, the keen football guru that he is, does not challenge the basic problems such as lack of motivation and his interference in the dressing room but instead finds the answer to all his problems in the form of Ronaldinho and Kaka.

Are there seriously any Chelsea supporters out there that believe that bringing these two superstars to the club will reverse all previous mistakes and finally lead them to Champion’s League glory? In reality if the move goes through Ronaldinho and Kaka will be unveiled as the new saviours only to suffer the consequences of Mr Abramovich’s regime if they don’t immediately make an impact. In the name of God please let them both consider their and futures seriously and ultimately realise that a move to Chelsea is a move into the football wilderness under an ineffectual Russian.

Ballack and Shevchenko were in these young men’s shoes in the not to distant past and they are no longer half the players that they used to be. Lacking drive, confidence and consistency they both have suffered at the Chelsea money making machine. Maybe I’m being cynical but moving in on both Kaka and Ronaldinho suggests that Roman intends on making Chelsea into a worldwide brand and really doesn’t care about their careers as much as making a profit. Next thing you know Beckham will be linked with a move to the Bridge as under Abramovich nothing would surprise me anymore.

who the hell do you think you are? i go to stamford bridge week in week out and to say that chelsea are “simply going nowhere” shows your absolute lack of footballing knowledge. i think 6 trophies in 3 years and not forgetting 2 champions league semi finals is a sign that we are heading in the right direction!

purely nonsense. chelsea was an uprising club before it was abramovich’s. both sheva and ballack had great opportunities under abramovich’s wishes, still they couldn’t make an impact. lampard is due to leave stamford bridge soon, so an organizer will surely be a priority. why not the most brilliant in the world, if you can?

Have been absent from this website for a while.. so just getting a chance to read your post Cathy.

I know what people are saying about Chelsea since Roman took over.. but you have to remember I think it’s now 9 other Clubs have had foreign investors take them over in the Premiership (I am sure there’ll be more to follow).. and to be honest none have matched what Chelsea have spent but you only get out what you put in.. Chelsea have reaped the rewards in recent years by spending big.. Two League Titles, an FA cup, Two Carling Cups and participation in the Champions League year in and year out (Three Semi Finals in what like 5 years) and that quite simply is what every supporter wants.. your team competing on all fronts.

This season once again we’re firing on all cylinders.. still in contention for the Quadruple.. which incidently we were in contention for last season right up until the end of April / May when Liverpool knocked us out of the Champions League and well United scraped home in the League (had to have a pop somewhere United fans!)

And as for the downward spirial (which everyone seems to want).. it hasn’t happened.. and Avram Grant has come in and kept us going in the ‘right direction’.. and quite quietly as well.. and I am simply loving it.. I think I heard on Sky Sports just last week or so.. his first 31 or 32 games since taking over compared to Mourinho’s.. just 1 difference and that was an extra draw instead of a win.. I don’t care what people think of Chelsea.. at the minute they’re pleasing me and that keeps me happy and whatever happens.. good or bad.. whoever runs out for Chelsea or represents Chelsea will get my backing.

As for Shevchenko and Ballack.. Sheva was unfortunate to pick up an injury there before Christmas.. he was showing signs of what he can do and as for Ballack.. he’s been fantastic lately.. fair enough he doesn’t stand out like a sore thumb.. but you have to remember playing alongside the likes of Terry, Essien, Lampard, Makelele, Drogba, Joe Cole, Anelka and Cech how can you.. it’s easy to stand out though when your playing alongside Demichelis, Schweinsteiger (very young at the time), Zé Roberto, Makaay, Kahn and Kovač as he did in his Bayern days.

Anyhow.. roll on Sunday.. Carling Cup Final.. the way Spurs have been playing lately.. it’ll be tough but it should be a cracker and may the best team win! C’mon Chels!
